Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore Morris Marshall nearly finished with a triple double on Wednesday night against IMG Academy as he led the Saints to an impressive 72-47 win over the Ascenders.  Marshall finished the night with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists in 33 minutes.

"Morris did a nice job on both ends of the floor for us tonight," said SF Coach Chris Mowry.  "We did a much better job as a team being patient and taking care of the ball."

IMG led 10-6 in the early going, but an 11-0 run by the Saints, paced by three three pointers from Allen Baez and Michael Sanchez, gave SF a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

The Saints (5-3) led 33-24 at the half time break and went on a 28-11 run over the first 12 minutes of the second period to stretch their lead to a game high 26, cruising from there to the 25 point victory.

The SF defense held the Ascenders to just 28% shooting from the field and recorded eight steals

The Saints had 20 assists on 29 made field goals, and outrebounded IMD 49-33.  The two teams combined for just 10 free throw attempts.

Michael Sanchez was deadly from the outside, finishing 5-of-6 from the three point line in route to 17 points on the night.  Allen Baez was 3-of-5 from long range with 11 points, and as a team SF shot 46% from three point range.

"We did a good job keeping the ball in front of us for the most part defensively," said Mowry.  "They did get some open looks from the outside, but we held them in check in the paint."

The Saints will take the weekend off before returning to action at home on Tuesday, November 25 against Polk State College at 7:00 PM.
