DJ Henderson Set to Join Davis & Elkins Men's Basketball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. - DJ Henderson of Santa Fe College Men's Basketball has committed to attend Davis & Elkins College where he will continue his academic and playing career.
Davis & Elkins is located in Elkins, W. Va. The Senators compete in the NCAA Division II Mountain East Conference, and are coached by Daniel Mondragon.
Mondragon, a graduate of Embry-Riddle in Daytona Beach, Fla., enters his third season in 2021-22 and was named the 30th head coach in program history on September 17, 2019.
Henderson is from Tampa, Fla. and attended Warton High School prior to attending Santa Fe.
In 2020-2021 as a sophomore, he played and started in 13 games for the Saints. The high-flyer averaged 4.8 points and 2.3 rebounds per game with multiple explosive finishes at the rim.
Henderson scored a season-high 10 points in a loss to Polk State College on Mar. 17, and over the course of the season, added 12 steals and ten blocks on the defensive end.
As a freshman for Head Coach Chris Mowry in 2019-2020, he played in 22 games and started in four. Henderson averaged 4.1 points per game, snagged 13 steals on the year, and scored a season-high 22 points against PHS Academy on Jan. 27.
Henderson excelled in the classroom at SF. The Business Administration major was recently selected to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team, and he garnered Second Team honors after his freshman campaign.
