Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints will get right after it in 2017, playing three games on opening day at the JUCO Kickoff Classic, giving the veterans and newcomers alike a chance to get their feet under them immediately.

The first game of the day at the Eddie C. Moore Complex for SF will be against Pensacola State College at 11:00 AM.  They will follow that up against South Georgia State at 3:20 PM, and end the day against Georgia Military College at 5:40 PM.

Leading the way for the Saints are six returners, including pitchers Paola Flores and Autumn Green, and infielders Cassandra Garcia and Adrix Paradizo.  Joining the sophomores are 12 freshman and one transfer.

So far, Coach Chris Ahern likes what she sees and has set the bar high for this freshman heavy team.

"This group, although primarily comprised of freshman, is an athletic, energetic, will-to-win group," said Ahern.  "They are fun to be around, they work hard, and they are developing nicely as a team.  With the enthusiasm, drive, talent and energy of this group, they have the potential to go far."

The first home games for the Saints will be on Sunday, January 29 at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM against Universidad de Puerto Rico.
