Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints (13-5-1) showed the same resiliency on Saturday they've shown all season, rally in both games against St. Petersburg College, picking up a 5-4 eight inning win in the first contest, and a 4-3 win in the second.
Bailee Moll played the hero in game number one, singling home a run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kaylan Tucker kept the Saints in the game with her pitching, allowing four runs over eight innings.
The Saints had 14 hits as a team, including two in the deciding inning. Moll was 3-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI. Kaitlyn Bennett had three hits out of the leadoff spot and Emily Yakel had a pair of hits with a run scored.
In game two Santa Fe again trailed, but Haissette Escudero didn't let the deficit last long. A half inning after the Titans took a 3-2 lead, Escudero belted a two run homer to left field, driving a pitch that was down and in, up and over the fence for the Saints 4-3 lead.
Allison Seivers started in the circle and went 4.2 innings before turning it over to Jamie Adams. Adams pitched the final 2.1 innings to earn the win.
Escudero had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a homerun, double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Sophia Negron and Kaitlyn Bennett had two hits each.
The Saints will have to battle St. Petersburg again in their next double header, this time in St. Pete on Thursday, February 22 at 5:00 p.m.
