Softball's Rogers to Attend Georgia Southwestern
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After two seasons with the Saints' softball team, Ashlyn Rogers has signed to continue her career with the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes.
GSW is a member of the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference. Head Coach Nicki Levering is entering her fifth year at the head of the program in 2021-22. The Hurricanes concluded 2021 with a 17-19 record overall.
Rogers, the sophomore Madison, Florida native and Aucilla Christian Academy graduate, played in 46 games in 2021 and started in 44 for the Saints, primarily at first base.
She earned All-Mid Florida Conference Second Team honors wile batting .326 with 45 hits in 138 at-bats. Rogers recorded eight doubles, a triple, and nine home runs with 30 RBI and 23 runs scored.
At the plate, No. 33 had an on-base percentage of .367 and a slugging percentage of .594, while defensively she posted a .973 fielding percentage on 222 total chances.
Her biggest hit of the season came when Rogers crushed a sixth-inning, go-ahead and game-winning bomb in the Mid-Florida Conference Tournament Championship against Daytona State to help advance the Saints to the FCSAA State Tournament.
In 2020 as a freshman, Rogers played in 25 games and scored six runs with seven RBI off 14 hits.
