GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Gabrielle Mathre of Santa Fe softball has committed to join teammate Ashlyn Rogers at Georgia Southwestern.
GSW is a member of the NCAA Division II Peach Belt Conference. Head Coach Nicki Levering is entering her fifth year at the head of the program in 2021-22. The Hurricanes concluded 2021 with a 17-19 record overall, and have now added two Santa Fe Saints for the 2022 season.
Mathre, a native of Oviedo, Fla. and graduate of Hagerty High School, was a member of the Saints' softball program for the past three seasons.
In 2021, she appeared in ten games pitching for the Saints and started on five occasions from inside the circle. Mathre posted a 3-1 record with one save and a 4.04 ERA while striking out 14 batters in 20 innings of work.
She did not compete in 2020, but had significant contributions in 2019 as both a pitcher and hitter.
From the batter's box as a true freshman, Mathre collected 22 hits, hit for a .272 average, and compiled four doubles, a home run, and seven RBI, coming around to score 11 runs of her own. In the circle, she started 19 games and held a record of 9-8 with a 4.80 ERA. Mathre tossed seven complete games and struck out 73 batters in 108.0 innings pitched.
