Volleyball Sweeps FSCJ in Season's Final Home Match
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Volleyball won their third match in their last four outings, comfortably sweeping visiting Florida State College at Jacksonville 25-8, 25-8, 25-18.
It was the final home match of the season for the Saints, and the sophomore class finishes play inside the SF Gymnasium with two consecutive victories (3-2 over Indian River, 3-0 over FSCJ).
HOW IT HAPPENED
SF wore their pink uniforms for Breast Cancer Awareness in the month of October…
The Saints led 9-3 in Set 1, and then put Set 1 out of reach with an impressive 14-0 run on the serve of Nicole DePaula, who had three aces during the run.
FSCJ had no answers in Set 2, and another big string of unanswered points all but sealed the deal for Set 2.
Leading 14-5, SF rattled off nine consecutive points, eight of which came on the serve of Maddy Dickinson. Dickinson had five aces during the stretch of play, finding the vulnerable spots in the Blue Wave serve receive.
Set 3 was tied at eight points apiece in the early going, and then SF led by just one, 15-14 midway through.
Four straight points for the Saints, however, created the separation needed to preserve the sweep. The final play on the home floor in 2022 was a DePaula kill, taking advantage of an FSCJ overpass.
