No. 16 Volleyball Sweeps Pensacola for Second Time
MILTON, Fla.- No. 16 Santa Fe volleyball picked up their sixth victory in a row today, on the road against the Pensacola State College Pirates, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19.
Each of Santa Fe's last eight wins have come by way of sweep, a streak that started with the Saints' 3-0 win over the Pirates on February 12.
Set 1 – SF 25, PSC 16
The Pirates won the first two points of the match, but that lead for the hosts did not last long. The Saints quickly took control, winning the first set of the match comfortably 25-16.
Set 2 – SF 25, PSC 20
The second set of the day went back and forth until the Pirates took a 15-12 lead over the Saints, prompting Head Coach Nick Cheronis to call a timeout. After the timeout, the Saints came out strong, eventually taking the lead and going on for a 25-20 win.
Set 3 - SF 25, PSC 19
The Saints led throughout the majority of the final set. The Pirates called a timeout and tried to rally, but the Saints held them off to win 25-19.
Key Statistics
The Santa Fe attack was humming, as the Saints recorded a season-high hitting percentage of .356 with only seven hitting errors in the match.
Samantha Caglianone led the Saints in kills with 11, followed by Madison Sheffield with nine. Lilli Bentz had eight putaways, and she also hit for a .467 percentage.
Maria Hernandez led the Saints in assists as she racked up 37.
