Tallahassee, FL
The FCSAA announced Citrus Conference honors today and Justin Jackson, the Saints left handed pitcher, led the way as the Pitcher of the Year on the All-Citrus Conference First Team. Jackson leads the state in ERA (2.09) and wins (11). He also ranks second in the FCSAA for strikeouts on the year with 97. The lefty from Naples is also currently second in the nation with 11 wins. He is in the top ten on the year for strikeouts and ERA in the NJCAA season stats as well. Jackson has led the way for the Saints from the mound and as they embark on post season play, Santa Fe will look for that to continue.
In addition to Jackson, the Saints also placed AJ Barrios and BJ Graham on the second team All Citrus Conference. Barrios from Pembroke Pines has 32 RBIs on the year, sports a batting average of .367 and an on base average of .467. He has been a consistent contributor for the Saints at third base. Graham the Saints other selection has 13 extra base hits for the Saints and sports a .385 batting average to go with an on base percentage of .478. Both Graham and Barrios have been counted on for clutch hits this season.
The Saints have a long history of success under Coach Johnny Wiggs. This is the first season for the Citrus Conference as Santa Fe Baseball competed in the Mid Florida Conference last year. This is the second season, however, that the Saints have been honored with the Pitcher of the Year as last year Tobin Moran was the Mid Florida Pitcher of the Year.
Santa Fe opens up their FCSAA tournament run on Friday, May 3rd againt Florida SouthWestern State in Ft. Myers at 3:00 PM. The Saints will play a best of three series for the right to advance to the final four in Tampa.
