Errors Prove Costly in Saints Loss to Pensacola, 6-4
Pensacola, FL – The Santa Fe baseball team lost for just the second time this season Friday night at Pensacola State College, falling to the Pirates 6-4. Errors proved costly for the FCSAA #3 Saints (11-2) as they surrendered four unearned runs.

Pensacola, FL – The Santa Fe baseball team lost for just the second time this season Friday night at Pensacola State College, falling to the Pirates 6-4. Errors proved costly for the FCSAA #3 Saints (11-2) as they surrendered four unearned runs.
Tom Watson (2-1) started on the hill and went seven strong innings, scattering seven hits and allowing two earned runs while striking out three. Walker Burgess pitched a scoreless eighth inning.
Pensacola (9-3) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning and added another in the third, and one in the fourth to go ahead 5-0. All three runs in the second inning were unearned.
Santa Fe got on the board in the sixth with one run, scored two more in the seventh, and one in the ninth.
The FCSAA #8 Pirates pitching staff kept the Saints in check, allowing just six hits, two of them coming from freshman catcher Matt Allen.
The Saints and Pensacola will go at it again on Saturday at 11:00 AM and then battle Rend Lake College at 2:00 PM.
