Polk State Uses Big Inning to Defeat Saints 10-6
Gainesville, FL – The Polk State Eagles produced five runs in the eighth inning of a tight 4-2 game against the Santa Fe Saints, giving themselves a cushion in route to a 10-6 victory. FCSAA #3 SF (13-3) also struggled to come up with the big hit, leaving 15 runners on base, including the bases loaded twice.

Gainesville, FL – The Polk State Eagles produced five runs in the eighth inning of a tight 4-2 game against the Santa Fe Saints, giving themselves a cushion in route to a 10-6 victory. FCSAA #3 SF (13-3) also struggled to come up with the big hit, leaving 15 runners on base, including the bases loaded twice.
The Eagles struck first, scoring a run the top of the second that was equaled by the Saints in the bottom half of the inning. In the fourth PSC added two more and tacked one on in the seventh.
SF's Chandler Rodriguez knocked in Tyler Kinney in the bottom of the seventh to cut the score to 4-2, but the flood gates opened in the top of the eighth when PSC scored five runs on four hits and one Santa Fe error.
The Saints scored three in the eighth and one in the ninth, but were unable to climb all the way back.
Bryan Neal started on the hill and took the loss after tossing 3.1 innings. Joey Stillwell, Call Graham, Clint Duke, and Michael Ray also made appearances.
Santa Fe pounded out 15 hits including a 3-for-5, two RBI performance from Chandler Rodriguez, and two hits from Tyler Kinney, Cole Parks, Nick Horvath, and Mike Castilla.
