Saints Win Seventh Straight, Take Down Daytona, 7-3
Gainesville, FL – For the second game in a row Jared Shouppe provided some power for the NJCAA #10 Saints, this time blasting a home run in the first inning to give SF an early lead on their way to a 7-3 victory. The win is the seventh in a row for Santa Fe and keeps them in first place in the Mid-Florida Conference by a half game over NJCAA #2 St. John’s River State.

Gainesville, FL – For the second game in a row Jared Shouppe provided some power for the NJCAA #10 Saints, this time blasting a home run in the first inning to give SF an early lead on their way to a 7-3 victory. The win is the seventh in a row for Santa Fe and keeps them in first place in the Mid-Florida Conference by a half game over NJCAA #2 St. John's River State.
Trent Johnson (5-1) went 6.2 innings for SF, giving up three runs and striking out eight to pick up his fifth win. Joey Stillwell was lights out from the bullpen, tossing 2.1 innings of shutout baseball to get the save.
Shouppe got things off to a good start with a two run blast over the right field fence on the first pitch of his first inning at bat. Daytona responded with a run in the bottom of the first to cut the margin to 2-1.
Chipper Andzel knocked in the Saints third run in the second inning, and they added another run in the fourth on a Falcon error. Jonah Girand came up with a big RBI single in the fifth to push the lead to 5-1. DSC came right back in the bottom of the fifth with two runs on three hits.
The Saints put the game away in the sixth on a Matt Allen RBI single, and a run scored on a wild pitch for the 7-3 final margin.
Jared Shouppe continued his hot streak, finishing 3-for-5 with a homerun, two RBI, and three runs scored.
The Saints and Falcons will wrap up their three game set on Wednesday, March 18 in Gainesville. That game can be seen live at 3:00 PM on www.ihigh.com/santafesaints
