Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #11 Santa Fe Saints win streak improved to eight on Wednesday afternoon with a win against the Daytona State College Falcons in Gainesville, 11-1. Matt Allen and Cole Parks paced the offense explosion, and Austin Goss (5-1) and Bryan Neal took care of business on the mound.
SF (21-5, 8-1 MFC) started early, scoring a run in the first on a two out, RBI single by Matt Allen, and added four more in the second on RBI by Tyler Kinney, Chandler Rodriguez, and Jared Shouppe, and an error by the Falcons center fielder for a 5-0 lead.
DSC got on the board in the fifth, but it was the only run the Saints would surrender as Goss and Neal combined to allow just the one run and five hits, all singles.
In the seventh Parks knocked home Allen for a 6-1 lead, and in the eighth SF put the game away, scoring five runs highlighted by a two RBI double by Matt Allen. Max Geller ended the game early with a pinch hit, RBI single to right field to put the mercy rule in to effect.
Goss pitched five innings of three hit ball to earn the win, striking out six along the way. Neal was equally as effective, allowing just two hits and fanning three over three frames.
