Smith Carries Saints Past Eastern Florida, 10-8
Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore Stephen Smith had one of the best offensive days of his career on Friday evening, going 4-for-4 with four RBI to lead the Saints past Eastern Florida State College in comeback fashion, 10-8.

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore Stephen Smith had one of the best offensive days of his career on Friday evening, going 4-for-4 with four RBI to lead the Saints past Eastern Florida State College in comeback fashion, 10-8.
EFSC opened the scoring in the second, plating three runs on starter Sean Gabel. The Saints (11-5) immediately answered, tying the game in the top of the third with three of their own on three hits, including a two RBI double by Smith.
The Titans retook the lead in the fourth and two innings later SF knotted things back with a run to make it 4-4.
Eastern Florida then exploded for four runs sixth to double up Santa Fe 8-4.
As they'd done all game, the Saints answered right back with three in the seventh, one in the eighth and two big runs in the ninth to take the lead. Alex Goebel started that inning with a double, Smith then bunted for a hit to put runners on the corners.
Leo Rodriguez sacrifice squeezed in the winning run and Troy Bacon helped his own cause with a RBI single to add some insurance.
Bacon tossed the final two innings for Santa Fe, picking up the victory.
Alex Goebel, Dillon Reed and Bacon each had two hits.
The Saints will be in Fort Pierce on Saturday to face off against Indian River State College at 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM.
