St. Petersburg, FL – The Santa Fe Saints continued their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon in St. Petersburg, defeating the Titans in extra innings 9-3. The win moves the FCSAA #2/Baseball America #14 Saints to 12-2 on the year.
St. Petersburg, FL – The Santa Fe Saints continued their winning ways on Wednesday afternoon in St. Petersburg, defeating the Titans in extra innings 9-3. The win moves the FCSAA #2/Baseball America #14 Saints to 12-2 on the year.
SF trailed 3-1 heading into the eighth inning but tied the score on a two out, two RBI double by sophomore catcher Haydn Cano.
Tyler Jones (1-1) took over on the mound for starter Max McKinley and blanked the Titans over three hitless innings to give SF a chance to win.
In the top of the tenth, the Santa Fe bats exploded, scoring six runs on six hits and a walk, including a three run homerun by Austin Bodrato, his first of the year.
Jones earned the win on the hill, allowing just one base runner and no hits, striking out five.
Cano finished the game 4-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored, Andrew Eyster was 3-for-4 with a double and a RBI, and Bodrato was 2-for-3 with a homerun and three RBI.
The Saints will be at home on Friday, February 16 for a game against Eastern Florida State College at 3:00 p.m.
