Baseball's Lauderdale Signs with Jacksonville State
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Jacob Lauderdale of Santa Fe College Baseball, a 2023 All Mid-Florida Conference Second Team honoree, committed to Jacksonville State University to continue his student-athlete career.
Lauderdale is from Thomasville, Ga. and is a Brookwood High School product. He previously attended Coastal Carolina University in the Fall of 2021 before his two seasons with the Saints.
In the 2022-2023 season, Lauderdale appeared in 17 games with six starts from the mound. He posted a record of 6-1 and led the team with four saves, including the save in the 5-4 win over State College of Florida in postseason play. In 49.0 innings pitched, he amassed 56 strikeouts and had an ERA of 4.22.
In the 2021-2022 season, Lauderdale made 10 appearances out of the bullpen, posting a 2-0 record in 13.2 innings pitched. He was a member of the FCSAA and Mid-Florida Conference All-Academic Teams.
Jacksonville State University Baseball is currently in the midst of a coaching search after the retirement of Jim Case. Coach Case was named the Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year in 2019, 2008, and 2005. In his 22 seasons with the program, Case had a 673-559 overall record. During his time coaching at Jacksonville State University, Coach Case won seven Ohio Valley Conference Championships.
The Gamecocks are coming off a 27-30 record in 2023, and went 18-12 in the ASUN Conference before bowing out in the semifinal of the ASUN Tournament.
