Saints Shutout at Home Against Sharks
Gainesville, FL - On Thursday afternoon, the Saints hosted the Miami Dade College Sharks in a single game matchup. This is the first time the Saints and Sharks have met this season. The Saints fought hard, but lose to the Sharks by a score of 10-0. The Saints record falls to 14-10.
How It Happened
Nick Staszak started in the circle for the Saints this afternoon. He pitched for a total of 5.1 innings. He allowed five hits, two earned runs, and had three strikeouts. Marchelo Biondi followed him on the mound and pitched for 0.1 innings. Lucas Johns, Anthony Scarpino, Travis Mabin, and Kristoffer Blanks finished up pitching for the Saints.
Juan Fernandez was the starting pitcher for the Sharks. He pitched for 6.1 innings and allowed two hits, zero earned runs, and had six strikeouts. Carlos Jacome was the leading hitter for the Sharks with three hits.
Zach Dejesus and Javier Soto were the leading hitters for the Saints. They each had one hit.
The Sharks loaded the bases in the top of the 1st inning but failed to score after a big strikeout from Nick Staszak to end the inning. Zach Dejesus put the Saints into the hit column by recording a single to left field in the bottom of the 3rd inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Drake Harman drew a two out walk for the Saints and advanced to third base off a passed ball, but the Saints were unable to capitalize. In the 7th inning, the Sharks scored two runs stretching their lead to 7-0.
Javier Soto recorded a single to center field in the 7th inning for the Saints' second hit of the day. The Sharks scored three runs in the top of the 8th inning to extend their lead to 10-0.
The final score of today's single game matchup between the Saints and the Sharks was 10-0. The Saints ended the game with two hits in all while the Sharks had seven hits.
