FCSAA Baseball Bracket
Championship Run Begins Friday
Gainesville, FL
The Santa Fe College Saints Baseball team will participate in the FCSAA DI Baseball Championships beginning on Friday, May 3rd. This year the format will be different with four host sites holding the regional matchups. Each regional match up winner will then proceed to Tampa for the final four of the FCSAA Baseball Championships which will be held at Yankee Stadium.
Saints Baseball earned a sixth seed and will square off against the third seed, the Florida SouthWestern State College Buccaneers. The Saints will travel to Fort Myers, Florida for the three game series. Opening pitch on Friday is set for 3PM, with game two of the series starting on Saturday at 2PM and game three, if the teams should split, will be played Sunday at 1PM.
The Saints went 1-2 against the Buccaneers in the regular season series matchup. The Saints played FSW at Santa Fe on April 4th and came up on the short end of the stick with a 10-16 loss as the Saints used seven different pitchers and scattered 13 hits in the loss. Game two at FSW was a different story as the Saints were victorious in a 5-4 win. Justin Jackson took the win for the Saints in game two. In the rubber match, game three, FSW sealed the run rule win in five innings behind the strong pitching of Abel Albarran and the Saints were held to one hit.
The Saints will look to avenge the season series against the Buccs as both teams start post season play at the FCSAA State Tournament on Friday, May 3rd.
