Santa Fe Rebounds Against FSCJ
Jacksonville, FL- On Friday the Santa Fe softball teamed traveled to Jacksonville to face a Florida State College at Jacksonville. The Blue Wave come into this game on a three-game win streak, while the Saints were on a three-game losing streak. However, the day would belong to the Saints as they defeated the Blue Wave 5-0.
How It Happened
Ryleigh Bauer started off in the circle for the Saints. The right-handed pitcher pitched 5.0 innings with three strikeouts and zero runs. Alexis Daphne also spent time in the circle in relief (2.0 innings). She also gave up zero runs.
It wasn't until the second inning that the Saints would begin to get it going on offense. Cloey O'Doniel opened it up with a single scoring Julianne Smith giving the Saints a 1-0 lead. Later in the 5th inning Alexis Daphney hits a three-run homerun in the top of the fifth inning to give the Saints a more comfortable lead at 4-0.
The leading hitters for the Saints were Alexis Daphney with two hits and three RBI's and Madi Conway who had two hits and one walk. The Saints also would record five walks and three stolen bases on the day.
The Blue Wave struggled at the plate, only recording two hits on the day.
The Saints would go on to score one more run produced by a line drive single from Gabriala Miles scoring Anna Quinonez. Santa Fe would eventually go on to complete the shutout against the FSCJ Blue Wave 5-0.
