No. 1 Florida Southwestern Tops Volleyball, 3-0
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Santa Fe College Volleyball had a tough test in the very first road match of the 2022 season when it traveled to face No.1 Florida Southwestern State College in Suncoast Conference action.
Although SF had moments of quality play, the Bucs were able to remain unbeaten at 10-0 with a sweep inside Suncoast Credit Union Arena, 25-20, 25-10, 25-22.
The Saints saved two match points in Set 3 to force an FSW timeout, but the hosts earned the final kill to pick up the victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
Santa Fe was able to limit the effectiveness of the Bucs' high-powered attack, as FSW finished with their second-lowest hitting percentage of the season at .175. The Saints' block was effective in the defeat with six, all on block assists. Katelyn Crofts had four, and Paige Dinges three.
The Bucs' play from behind the service line was difficult for SF to handle, however, and FSW finished with 13 service aces.
The Saints had 23 kills in the match, ten of which came from Keionna Mackey. Mackey reached double-digit kills for the third straight match…
Melanie Oglesby had 18 assists, and defensively, Faith Marquis paced the Saints with 16 digs.
