Volleyball Downed at No. 10 Hillsborough, 3-0
TAMPA, Fla. – No. 10 Hillsborough hosted Santa Fe College Volleyball on Saturday afternoon, and the Saints suffered their fourth defeat in Suncoast Conference play with the Hawks prevailing 26-24, 25-13, 25-20.
The Saints have now lost three in a row, while Hillsborough improved to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in the Suncoast.
SF got off to a great start in Set 1 and looked to be on track for a set advantage on the road. The Saints established a lead as large as eight points, 15-7. Hillsborough rattled off the next four points, however, and seemed to slowly start chipping away into the deficit.
The Saints still held a 22-18 advantage after Paige Dinges and Larissa Seger-Griebeler took advantage of an overpass from the Hawks at the net.
Hillsborough responded once again to tie it at 22-22, but back-to-back kills from Katelyn Crofts in the middle handed the Saints two set points.
Unfortunately for SF, the Hawks executed to produce four consecutive kills to conclude Set 1.
The Hawks' big comeback changed the course of the match, over what proved to be the final two sets.
Hillsborough went on a 7-0 run in the middle of the second set to seize control. Set 3 was tied at 18-18, before the Hawks began a 6-1 spurt to eventually put the finishing touches on the match.

The Saints (4-5, 0-4 Suncoast) will seek to put an end to their three-match skid on Thursday, Sept. 22. SF will host Eastern Florida State College (10-3, 1-2 Suncoast) at 6:00 p.m. inside the SF Gymnasium.
