Saints Win Set One, but Fall to Eastern Florida 3-1
GAINESVILLE Fla. - Santa Fe College Volleyball started off hot, winning the first set over visiting Eastern Florida State College, but ultimately fell to the 12-3 Titans, 26-28, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21.
SET 1 - SF, 28, EFSC 26
The match started off competitively, but Eastern Florida State College won six straight points to lead 8-4 before the Saints took a timeout.
The Titans held that lead for much of the set, until the Saints fought their way back into it with a run of their own.
Trailing 21-16, SF rattled off five straight points to draw even, and came through down the stretch to take the 1-0 lead.
SET 2 - EFSC 25, SF 20
The set began with the Saints surging off to a 7-0 lead, forcing an Eastern Florida State College timeout. However, the Titans would quickly battle back and eventually take a 13-11 lead, before the Saints took their first timeout.
EFSC would keep their foot on the pedal, eventually pulling away to tie the match at a set apiece.
Set 3 - EFSC 26, SF 24
The match would continue to be a back and forth affair, with the teams being neck-and-neck.
The Saints were within one point of the Titans at 23-22, but were unable to finish down the stretch.
Set 4 - EFSC 25, SF 21
Trailing 19-15, the Saints would battle back and tie the set at 19-19, but a fifth set wasn't meant to be inside the SF Gymnasium as the Titans earned the final kill.
