No. 14 Daytona State Comes Away with 3-1 Win over SF Volleyball
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Volleyball and No. 14 Daytona State met for the first time in the 2022 season on Tuesday evening inside the SF Gymnasium, and the visiting Falcons came away with a hard-fought, 18-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20 result.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Once the match got underway following a 30-minute delay, the hosts were the team who started off fast, going on to take Set 1, 25-18.
The Falcons responded and tied the match at a set apiece, earning a 25-16 result in Set 2.
Santa Fe seemed as if it was on its way to a 2-1 lead when it established a 20-12 advantage in the third set.
Daytona State's stunning 9-1 run, however, tied the two teams at 21-21. SF faced a set point at 24-23, trailing for the first time in the frame, and the Falcons were able to go ahead 2-1 with a kill to the left corner.
Santa Fe was unable to force a decisive fifth set in front of the home crowd, as the Falcons closed it out with a 25-20 outcome in the fourth.
