Volleyball Unable to Get into Win Column at Eastern Florida
MELBOURNE, Fla. – Santa Fe Volleyball took the third set at Eastern Florida State College, but the Titans were able to close the match out in the fourth to prevail, 25-15, 25-19, 17-25, 25-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1 went comfortably to the hosts, but Santa Fe started off well in the second set.
The Saints were able to establish an early 9-5 lead, forcing a Titans' timeout.
The lead was still four, 18-14, but Eastern Florida took control with a dominant run of play to come all the way back to go ahead 2-0.
The Saints started slow in the third set, but later, broke a 16-16 tie with a one-sided run of their own. SF scored nine of the final ten points in the frame to force the fourth set, with Keionna Mackey's explosive kill from the middle of the court the exclamation mark.
The momentum didn't carry over, however, and the Titans raced out to a 10-3 lead in the fourth set.
SF did make a little push to draw within three points, but in the end, couldn't overcome the deficit to put an end to their double-digit winless streak.
