Johnson Stifles Pasco, Saints Win 5-1
Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore pitcher Trent Johnson (1-0) went five strong innings Friday afternoon against Pasco-Hernando State College, striking out nine Conquistador batters and walking none to earn his first win of the season. He threw a first pitch strike to 14 of 17 batters faced, and allowed just three base runners.

Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore pitcher Trent Johnson (1-0) went five strong innings Friday afternoon against Pasco-Hernando State College, striking out nine Conquistador batters and walking none to earn his first win of the season. He threw a first pitch strike to 14 of 17 batters faced, and allowed just three base runners.
Ricky Miranda and Anthony Auletta combined on the final four innings. In total SF pitchers struck out 12 and walked none. Through five games, Saints pitchers have struck out 42, walked just seven, and have a 2.41 ERA in 41 innings pitched.
Santa Fe (5-0) struck early against Pasco, plating a run in the first, a run in the third, and two in the third, highlighted by a line drive homerun from Brandon Hernandez (1). SF put an insurance run on the board in the fifth, and held the Conquistadors scoreless until the ninth inning.
Hernandez, Matt Allen, and Wyatt Meisterhans all had RBI for the Saints.
Santa Fe will get right back after it on Saturday, February 6 when they host South Florida State College in a double header at 12 noon.
