Gainesville, FL – Santa Fe sophomore second baseman Tyler Kinney came up big in the clutch on Friday afternoon, turning a one run SF lead into a more comfortable three run advantage with a sixth inning bomb to right field to put the Saints up 6-3 over Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Saints pitchers took care of the rest for their eighth win in a row.
Santa Fe (16-3) opened the game with a pair of runs in the first inning and two more in the second for an early 4-1 lead. Stallions pitchers held the Saints in check and ABAC batters got them back in the game with a two run fourth to trim it to a one run game.
With the game separated by just a run, Tyler Kinney stepped up in the sixth and left the yard to give SF some breathing room late in the game.
Rickey Miranda finished off the game with four scoreless innings allowing just one hit and one error while striking out four to earn the save (1). Alex Kennel (2-0) picked up the win, his second in two appearances.
The Saints will put their eight game winning streak on the line Saturday, February 27 in Gainesville when St. Petersburg College comes to town for a double header at 12 noon.
