Smith Records Six Hits, Saints Take Two From SPC, 13-3 and 5-2
Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule on Saturday in Gainesville with a pair of wins over St. Petersburg College, defeating the Titans 13-3 in game one behind four homers, and 5-2 in game two. The wins give SF 10 in a row and improves their record to 18-3.

Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule on Saturday in Gainesville with a pair of wins over St. Petersburg College, defeating the Titans 13-3 in game one behind four homers, and 5-2 in game two. The wins give SF 10 in a row and improves their record to 18-3.
Offense was the story in game one as the Saints pounded out 16 hits, four of them leaving the yard. Wyatt Meisterhans (1) was the first to homer, belting a pitch the opposite way over the right field fence in the third inning. Later in that same inning, Brandon Hernandez (2) sat on a fastball and smashed it out in left. In the fifth Stephen Smith (1) crushed a grand slam off the top of the foul pole in right, and one pitch later Haydn Cano (1) drove one over the left field fence.
SF hit .516 as team in game one. Meisterhans (3-for-4, RBI), Smith (3-for-4, four RBI), Chad Stockdale (3-for-5, 2 RBI, 3 runs), and Haydn Cano (2-for-4, four RBI) all had multiple hits.
Kyle Morton (2-1) started on the hill and went six strong to pick up the win.
Robert Girgis picked up where Morton left off in game two, throwing five innings, holding the Titans to just two runs in the process.
Stephen Smith continued to rake, going 3-for-3 with two RBI to lead the Santa Fe attack.
The Saints opened the game with four straight singles at one point in the first inning to stake themselves to a 4-1 lead through one. They would go on to add an insurance run on a Smith RBI single in the fifth, and Troy Bacon locked down the game's final two innings, allowing just one hit for his fourth save of the season.
Santa Fe will take their 10 game winning streak into Mid-Florida Conference play when they meet the College of Central Florida in Gainesville on Wednesday, March 2 at 3:00 PM for the first game of a three game series. The second game will be played in Ocala on Friday March 4 at 3:00 PM, and the two teams will wrap up the series on Saturday, March 5 back in Gainesville at 1:00 PM.
