
Saints Roll Past ABAC, 10-3 and 7-2
Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #8 Santa Fe Saints avenged a loss from earlier in the season Saturday afternoon in Georgia, defeating Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 10-3 and 7-2. SF (15-6) dominated both phases of the game, outhitting the Fillies 23-11. Wyatt Meisterhans, Kyle Phillips, and Stephen Smith were 13-for-23 with four doubles, a homerun, seven RBI, and nine runs scored.

Gainesville, FL – The NJCAA #8 Santa Fe Saints avenged a loss from earlier in the season Saturday afternoon in Georgia, defeating Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College 10-3 and 7-2. SF (15-6) dominated both phases of the game, outhitting the Fillies 23-11. Wyatt Meisterhans, Kyle Phillips, and Stephen Smith were 13-for-23 with four doubles, a homerun, seven RBI, and nine runs scored.
Saints coach Johnny Wiggs went with a whole staff approach, running 11 pitchers out there over 14 innings. They combined for 20 strikeouts and just four walks.
Kyle Phillips, making his full return to the lineup after an injury, hit a homerun in game one to pace the Saints. He finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI. Meisterhans, Smith, Mikey Navarrette, and Bo Seccombe had a pair of hits each, and Alex Goebel had two RBI.
Robert Girgis earned the win, allowing one unearned run over two innings.
The second game was more of the same from the Saints. They put seven runs on the board, smashing four doubles.
Sean Gabel picked up the win with two innings of work. Mitch Campion also tossed two innings, striking out four while allowing just a single hit. Troy Bacon pitched a scoreless inning, pushing his streak to 14.2 frames without a run and just one hit allowed.
Smith was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored, and a RBI. Phillips and Meisterhans had two hits each and Meisterhans had two RBI.
The Saints next game will be the Mid-Florida Conference opener Wednesday, March 1 at Florida State College-Jacksonville at 3:00 PM, the first of a three game set. Game two will take place in Gainesville on Friday, March 3 at 3:00 PM in Gainesville, and the third game will be on March 4 back in Jacksonville at 1:00 PM. The fourth game between the two teams will be in Gainesville on April 10.
