
Saints Slide Last Polk 2-1 Thanks to Pitching, Timely Hitting
Winter Haven, FL – Santa Fe sophomore pitcher Mitch Campion (3-0) was stellar on the mound for the FCSAA #2/Baseball America #14 Santa Fe Saints (14-2) Monday evening in Winter Haven, tossing seven shutout innings to earn the win over Polk State College. Campion scattered four hits and struck out six. He now has a 0.82 ERA in four starts and has allowed 0 runs in three of four starts. His scoreless innings streak sits at 18.

Haydn Cano got SF on the board in the third, knocking home Austin Bodrato for a 1-0 Santa Fe lead.
Cade Westbrook gave the Saints some insurance in the eighth inning, scoring on an Eagles error after reaching with a pinch hit single to start the inning.
Campion was replaced by Colt Mink in the eighth inning and Mink turned it over to Tyler Jones for the final five outs. Jones worked out of a jam in the eighth, allowing just one run (credited to Mink), and struck out back to back hitters with the tying run on base.
In the ninth, Jones shut the door on Polk State with a 1-2-3 inning, earning his first save of the season.
Andrew Eyster picked up where he left off last week, going 3-for-5, Haydn Cano was 2-for-5 with an important RBI, and Mikey Navarrete was 2-for-5.
The Saints will face a stiff test on Wednesday, February 21 when FCSAA #6 State College of Florida (10-5-1) comes to town for a 3:00 p.m. game at SF Field.
