Gainesville, FL – The Santa Fe Saints took a two run lead into the top of the ninth inning, but couldn’t hold off the State College of Florida rally as the Manatees plated three runs with two outs to pull off the 6-5 win. The loss drops FCSAA #2 SF to 14-3 on the season.

Max McKinley started on the mound for the Saints and pitched seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits.
Santa Fe trailed early, falling behind 3-0 in the second inning. SF grabbed one back in the second and made it 3-2 with a run in the fourth.
In the seventh inning the Saints took their first lead on RBI singles by Bo Seccombe and Mikey Navarrete. The lead grew to 5-3 in the eighth on a RBI single by Brock Edge.
The lead looked safe in the ninth when SF pitcher Tyler Jones recorded the first two outs. SCF refused to give in and drew the next two batters drew walks to out the tying run on base. Two singles later the score was 5-5.
After a double steal, a passed ball allowed the sixth run to score for the Manatees.
In the bottom of the ninth, trailing by one with two outs and a runner on, Haydn Cano had a 15 pitch at bat, including 11 foul balls before eventually flying out to end the game.
The Saints had eight hits as a team, including two from Cade Westbrook.
Santa Fe will be back in action on Friday, February 23 at home against Florida SouthWestern at 3:00 p.m.
