Edge Homers Twice, Hemenway K's 13 in Saints 9-1 Win
Gainesville, FL – Devin Hemenway was lights out on the mound Friday afternoon against Seminole State College, and Brock Edge hammered two homeruns to pace the NJCAA #2 Saints (32-6, 13-2 MFC) past the Raiders 9-1 in eight innings. For Hemenway it’s his second straight double digit strikeout game. He fanned 13 batters a week after striking out 11 against Lake Sumter.

For Hemenway it's his second straight double digit strikeout game. He fanned 13 batters a week after striking out 11 against Lake Sumter.
Edge put the Saints on the board in the second with a solo shot and SF added a run in the third on a single by Haydn Cano. Jarrett Pico kept the scoring going in the fourth with a RBI single to score Edge to make it 3-0 Saints.
In the sixth Kyler Marquis went the other way to score two runs, four batters after Brock Edge led the inning off with his second homerun.
Raiders batters finally came through with a run in the eighth, but the Saints answered with three runs, all that they would need for the eight inning mercy rule victory. Cano plated two of the runs and the final RBI came courtesy of Garrett Mathes on the first pitch he saw.
Hemenway (4-0) wins his fourth game of the year while striking out a career high 13 batters with no walks. Edge finished 3-for-4 with a pair of homeruns, two RBI, and three runs scored. Cano was 2-for-5 with three RBI, Marquis was 2-for-3 with two RBI, and two runs scored. Mikey Navarrete joined them with two hits.
The Saints will be back on the road tomorrow, April 7 in Daytona against the Falcons of Daytona State College at 1:00 p.m. in the first game a three game series.
