Robb Adams had a no-hitter through seven innings and Lance Bolton earned his first save of the year as the Santa Fe Saints extended their winning streak to nine games with a 3-1 win over Hillsborough Community College in Tampa Tuesday afternoon.

Adams (1-0) had a no-hit shutout going with nine strikeouts and two walks when SF head coach Johnny Wiggs decided it would be better long term to go to the bullpen.

"As a former pitcher myself, it was very difficult to take Robb out of the game with a no-hitter going," said Wiggs. "But this was only his second start of the season and we want him to be healthy and strong for us in conference play."

The Saints scored all the runs they would need in the fifth inning when Nick Pitelli reached on a one-out walk, followed by singles by Nick Herndon and Jonathan Logsdon to load the bases. Saints' RBI leader Luis Rodriguez singled to score Pitelli and Herndon scored on a sacrifice fly by Xavier Moronta.

The Saints put an insurance run on the board in the top of the eighth when Coy Phillips drove in Rodriguez with a two-out single.

The Hawks (3-7) scored their only run of the game when Fabian Kovacs registered their only hit with a one-out triple in the eighth and scored on an infield ground out.

Logsdon and Chase Frady each had a pair of hits in the game and Herndon, named Florida College System Activities Association Player of the Week earlier in the day, extended his hitting streak to 10 games with his single in the fifth.

"Our guys are playing with a lot of confidence," said Wiggs. "We hope to keep this rolling into conference."

SF (10-2) will host Abraham-Baldwin Agricultural College on Friday with the first pitch scheduled for 3 pm.
