Adams' No-Hitter Lifts Saints into FCSAA State Championship Game
LAKELAND, Fla. – Robb Adams and No. 8 Santa Fe Baseball punched their ticket into the FCSAA State Tournament Championship Game in style, with the left-handed pitcher tossing a no-hitter in the 5-0 win over Northwest Florida State College.
Adams' no-no is believed to be the first-ever in FCSAA State Tournament history, and it couldnt have come at a better time for the Saints as they battled Northwest Florida for the right to play Miami Dade for the title.
BOTTOM 1ST - SF 2, NWF 0
Santa Fe came out strong and established the early lead. After Jonathan Logsdon was hit by a pitch, he advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Xavier Moronta won his at-bat at earned a walk, then proceeded to steal second base.
Dylan Mock stepped into the box with two outs and runners on second and third, and his batted ball up the middle scored the game's first two runs.
BOTTOM 6TH - SF 3, NWF 0
After four consecutive scoreless frames, the Saints produced the game's next run in the bottom of the sixth. Nick Herndon started the inning off with a ground-rule double to right-center field.
Herndon advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Jevin Relaford, and then touched home on an RBI single from Armando Albert.
TOP 8TH - SF 3, NWF 0
Northwest Florida threatened for the first time with a leadoff walk followed by a hit-by-pitch.
After a meeting on the mound and as Adams' pitch count rose, the Saints turned a timely 5-4-3 double play. Adams then kept the Raiders off the scoreboard by inducing a soft grounder to the mound for a throw to first.
BOTTOM 8TH - SF 5, NWF 0
The Saints extended the cushion for Adams and went ahead 5-0. Logsdon had a sacrifice fly score Herndon, and Luis Rodriguez singled to right-center field to plate Relaford.
TOP 9TH - SF 5, NWF 0
Adams started the ninth with a strikeout, and then earned back-to-back fly outs to send the dugout storming onto the field to celebrate a historic performance. Before leaving the field, Adams gave a curtain call to the SF faithful, who gave a standing ovation for the impressive accomplishment.

Key Statistics
Adams' no-hitter represented his second complete game shutout of the season, and his final line included just one walk, one Saints' error, and two hit batsmen. He struck out seven and faced just three more batters over the minimum.
The only thing keeping Adams from being perfect through the first seven innings was an error and hit-by-pitch, as he kept Northwest Florida off balance all game long with a mix of pitches. Rodriguez made the defensive play of the game with a leaping snag at third base in the fifth inning to keep the no-hitter alive.
The Saints finished the game with nine hits. Herndon went 3-of-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Albert was 2-of-5 with an RBI, and Mock had two RBI and a walk.

No. 8 Santa Fe (33-12) advances to play No. 20 Miami Dade at 3:00 p.m. The winner will be the FCSAA Tournament State Champion, and will advance to play at the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. from May 29 to June 4/5.
