AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Santa Fe Saints Baseball won Game 1 of their double header on Saturday with a walk off, 6-5 win against Indian River State College in extra-innings, then cruised past South Florida State College 10-3 to improve to 3-0 in the early season.
GAME 1 – SF 6, IRSC 5 (8 Innings)
SF led 5-1 in this one before the Pioneers rallied to tie it and force an extra-inning, but the Saints ultimately pulled away with a walk-off sacrifice fly by sophomore JP Herrholz.
A GAME-CHANGING PLAY
In the bottom of the eighth with a runner placed on second base, Jahlani Rogers bunted and reached on an error, putting runners on the corners. JP Herrholz then walked it off for SF with a sacrifice fly to right field, with Josh Hogue scoring the winning run.
TEAM COMPARISON
SF had seven hits compared to the Pioneer's nine hits, and SF pitching staff had eight strikeouts to the Pioneers seven.
Indian River was hurt by three errors in the loss.

Santa Fe raced out to a 10-0 lead in this one after the game's first three innings, doing damage early to finish the game comfortably in Auburndale.

In the second-inning, SF broke the game open with four runs, highlighted by a two-run homer from Rogers, his second long ball of the day, and a solo shot from Grant Gilooly.
