
Baseball Outslugs Lake-Sumter, 13-9 to Remain Unbeaten
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Santa Fe College Baseball (4-0) remained unbeaten so far in 2023, utilizing a big offensive inning in the early going against Lake-Sumter State College to create a cushion and hold on to it the rest of the way on the SF Baseball Field on Monday afternoon.
A GAME-CHANGING PLAY
The entire second inning…The Saints put up seven runs in the frame to establish a 9-1 lead, and although Lake-Sumter was able to get its offense going later in the game, the Santa Fe offensive display early in the game helped carry it to the high-scoring win.
13 different batters came to the plate in the inning that included eight hits for the Saints.
TEAM COMPARISON
SF finished with 17 hits to Lake-Sumter's 11. The SF bats also walked on nine separate occasions, while the Saints' pitching staff issued five free-passes to the Lakehawks.
The Saints did damage all throughout the lineup, with eight different batters recording hits, six multi-hit efforts, and six recording at least one RBI.
