Finding a Way to Win: Baseball Outlasts Hillsborough 7-5 in Extra-Innings
TAMPA, Fla. – The host Hillsborough Community College Hawks pushed unbeaten Santa Fe College Baseball to extra-innings on Monday afternoon, but the Saints continued to find ways to win, improving to a record of 9-0 with a 7-5 result in 11 innings.
A GAME-CHANGING PLAY
There were many to choose from in this one. Jahlani Rogers' third home run of the season in the top half of the 11th inning drove in what would prove to be the game's winning runs.
The pitching performances from Casey O'Dell and Gavin Book in the ninth, tenth, and eleventh frames helped SF posts zeros when it mattered most.
TEAM COMPARISON
The Santa Fe bats reached double-digit hits for the fifth time this season, producing 14. Hillsborough's offense had 10 hits of their own.
The SF pitching and defense was sound all game long. The Saints issued just one walk and played error-free baseball. In contrast, the Hawks had three defensive errors and four free-passes issued.
