
6-5 Outcome for No. 6 Baseball at Daytona State
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – No. 6 Santa Fe College Baseball (28-1, 4-1 MFC) used a four-run fifth inning to create some separation from host Daytona State College in the two teams' second game of the series, and the Saints were able to hold on to the lead to get past the Falcons 6-5.
A GAME-CHANGING PLAY…
The Saints would prove to need every insurance run they could get in the later innings, and the ninth homer of the season from JP Herrholz in the seventh inning along with a manufactured run in the eighth inning helped hand SF a 6-0 lead.
The Falcons had five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Jacob Lauderdale was able to preserve the lead and strand the tying run at second base by tossing a comeback ground ball over to Herrholz to record the third out in the frame…
TEAM COMPARISON
SF had 13 hits to seven for Daytona State.
None of the Falcons' hits were for extra bases, while Santa Fe produced five doubles and the long ball from Herrholz.
