
Tobin Moran On Top as NJCAA Pitcher of the Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - No. 2 Santa Fe College Baseball won twice last week over then No. 1 College of Central Florida, taking Game 1 on the strength of a complete game shutout on the mound from Tobin Moran. As announced Tuesday by the NJCAA office, his performance helped him garner recognition as the NJCAA Pitcher of the Week.
Moran is a sophomore from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. and Palm Beach Gardens High School. He currently ranks No. 3 in the FCSAA in ERA with a mark of 2.15. He holds a 6-0 record for the No. 2 Saints, and also ranks second in the FCSAA in innings pitched (54.1), hammering the strike zone and working his way deep into ball games. Moran leads the SF pitching staff with 55 strikeouts, and has issued walks to just five batters in his nine appearances.
In his start on Wednesday, Mar. 22 at then No. 1 College of Central Florida, Moran:
- Tossed a complete game shutout.
- Held the nation's best statistical offense to just four hits and a walk.
- Was efficient in the gem, throwing 75 strikes in 107 pitches.
- Ended innings with K's on four occasions.
- Matched a career-high with ten strikeouts.
