No. 3 Baseball Puts up 13 Runs, Wins Big at Daytona
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – In the opening game of the second Mid-Florida Conference series between No. 3 Santa Fe College baseball and Daytona State, the Saints steamrolled the Falcons in a 13-3, seven-inning run-rule victory.
A GAME-CHANGING PLAY…
It was a consistent offensive onslaught for the Saints, who scored two or more runs in five of the game's seven frames.
SF brought across three runs in the top of the second inning to give starting pitcher Tobin Moran an early lead, taking advantage of two walks, a DSC error, and two wild pitches.
The Falcons were never really close the rest of the way, as SF eventually opened up a 10-1 lead before putting the finishing touches to the game in the seventh.
TEAM COMPARISON
The Saints amassed 13 hits while holding Daytona State to just six on their home field.
Each team committed one defensive error.
The Falcons' only extra-base hit was a solo home run from Xavier Lopez, while the Saints compiled five doubles from four different bats.
Daytona State pitching struggled to find the zone and the SF bats were patient to the tune of 10 walks (the highest total in Mid-Florida Conference play for the Saints), while the SF pitching issued just one free pass.
