No. 3 Baseball Blasts Daytona State, 10-0
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 3 Santa Fe College Baseball (34-3, 10-3 MFC) earned its tenth Mid-Florida Conference victory of the season on Friday, trouncing visiting Daytona State College by a 10-0 score in five innings played.
GAME-CHANGING PLAYS…
Starting pitcher Corey Braun had his command and everything working for him from the mound, tossing the five-inning one-hitter while striking out five Falcons.
The SF offense, meanwhile, reached double-digit runs for the third straight game. The Saints were belting the ball all over the yard and things got out of hand in the third inning as SF produced five runs.
The six, seven, and eight hitters in the lineup did most of the damage for the Saints in that frame, with Drake Harman hitting a single, Grant Gallagher driving an RBI double off the wall in left field, then Jacob Guthrie smashing a 2-0 pitch over the scoreboard in left field for a three-run jack.
TEAM COMPARISON
This game wasn't a pretty comparison for the Falcons…Daytona State committed six errors, while SF played clean defensively.
The Falcons mustered just the one hit, a single to leadoff the fourth. On two occasions, top half of the innings concluded with impressive double plays turned by the Saints.
SF amassed 13 hits in the comfortable win, with eight of nine hitters in the lineup recording either a hit or run. Josh Hogue's single through the right side plated the final run to walk it off…
