6-1 Win Gives No. 3 Baseball a Sweep of Daytona State
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A sweep of the Daytona State College Falcons proved to be in store for No. 3 Santa Fe College Baseball (34-3, 10-3 MFC), as the Saints continued to pitch it well against the Falcons.
SF conceded a measly four runs in the three-game series, while issuing just two walks and committing only two defensive errors.
GAME-CHANGING PLAYS…
A three-run home run from Jahlani Rogers in the opening inning put the Saints ahead, and the centerfielder struck again with a two-RBI single in the seventh inning to bring the score to 5-1.
A double from JP Herrholz then scored Rogers, and the bullpen behind starter Jacob Phillips remained steady to close the deal and complete the series sweep.
TEAM COMPARISON
SF did much more with its nine hits than Daytona State did with its eight.
The Falcons were forced to use five different pitchers, while the Saints threw three.
The only stolen base in the game was by Jacob Guthrie.
The timely long ball from Rogers did early damage to the Falcons' hopes of winning their first game against the Saints in 2023.
