
Santa Fe Baseball Bounces Back At Home

On Saturday, the Saints faced off against South Florida State College at home after losing both games of their doubleheader on Friday to South Georgia State College. They won 4-2 in Game 1 and 13-3 in Game 2 over the Panthers. The Saints improve to 6-2 on the season.
How It Happened
Game 1
Justin Jackson started on the mound for the Saints, pitching a five inning shutout and striking out seven. The Saints finished the game utilizing Colby Rice, who received the save.
Offensively, the Saints earned seven hits and four RBIs with Grant Gallagher hitting a home run as leadoff batter in the bottom of the first inning. Leading hitters of the game included Cory Filley and AJ Barrios, each with two hits. Ultimately, the Saints led the entirety of the game, scoring three of their four runs in the first. The Saints won 4-2.
Game 2
Matthew Jenkins started on the mound for the Saints. He pitched five innings with one earned run, five hits, and eight strikeouts. Jenkins received the win, but the Saints finished the game utilizing Lucas Johns for two innings. Johns had four strikeouts, giving up two earned runs and one hit.
Offensively, the Saints earned 12 hits, 13 runs, and 10 RBIs. Leading hitters of the game included Drake Harman, AJ Barrios, Anthony Fimiano, and Griffin Sorrow (all with two hits). Ultimately, the Saints controlled the game after scoring seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
