
Saints Cruise Past The Pioneers At Home
Gainesville, FL - On Thursday afternoon, the Santa Fe Saints hosted the Indian River State College Pioneers in a single game showdown. This is the first matchup this season between the Saints and the Pioneers. In today's game, the Saints fought hard to beat the Pioneers with a score of 8-1. Their record improves to 13-8.
How It Happened
Wyatt Campbell started on the mound for the Saints and pitched for a total of six innings. He allowed four hits, zero earned runs, and had six strikeouts. Campbell had his first strikeout of the afternoon in the top of the second inning with Jacob Weatherspoon at the plate for the Pioneers. He also ended the top of the fourth and the fifth innings with strikeouts.
Nick Davidson followed him on the mound and pitched for 1.1 innings. He allowed two hits, zero earned runs, and had two crucial strikeouts to get out of the seventh inning hit free. Colby Rice finished up pitching for the Saints. He ended the game with two consecutive strikeouts. The Saints pitchers had a total of 10 strikeouts.
Anthony Fimiano led the Saints in hitting this afternoon. He had a total of two hits. AJ Barrios, Wyatt Campbell, Landon Rogers, Grant Gallagher, and Drake Harman each had one hit in today's game. Gallagher also had a notable four RBIs.

The Saints had an impressive double play in the top of the eighth inning to prevent the Pioneers from scoring, which sent the game into the bottom of the inning. AJ Barrios made it to second off a fair ball coasting along the left field line in the bottom of the eighth. The bases were then loaded after Wyatt Campbell walked and Cory Filley was hit by a pitch, sending Landon Rogers to the plate. Rogers made it to first base on a fielder's choice, however, AJ Barrios got out at home, keeping the bases loaded. Drake Harman hit a single to bring home Wyatt Campbell and add another run on the board to make the score 4-1. Griffin Sorrow was then hit by a pitch to walk in Filley, improving the score to 5-1 for the Saints. Grant Gallagher went on to hit an impressive double to bring home three more Saints runs to push the lead to 8-1 with two outs on the board.
The starting pitcher for the Pioneers was Lucas Glendinning. He pitched for six innings, threw for two hits, zero earned runs, and had six strikeouts. The leading hitter for the Pioneers was Vincent Samuel with two hits.
The Saints today had a total of seven hits while the Pioneers had six hits. The final score of the game between the Santa Fe Saints and Indian River State Pioneers was 8-1.
