Saints Hold On To Win Over Titans
Melbourne, FL- On Thursday, the Santa Fe baseball team traveled down to face the Eastern Florida Titans in the first of a three-game series. After suffering a loss in their last outing, the Saints were eager to get a win today. The Saints fought hard producing early offense and strong defense. They were able to pull out a much needed 8-6 victory over the Titans.
How It Happened
Nick Staszak started on the mound for the Saints. He pitched 8.0 innings and had four strikeouts earning the win. Colby Rice appeared in relief for the final inning.
Santa Fe opened the scoring in the first inning after Drake Harmon hit a sacrifice fly scoring AJ Barrios. After a single from Hector Mangual singled on a hard grounder to center field scoring Carlos Cordero (1-1 tie).
In the 2nd inning the Saints were able to put up four runs (5-1, Saints). They would go on to score two runs in the 4th inning before the Titans would score again in the bottom of the inning (7-3, Saints). In the 6th inning the Saints would strike again after Javier Soto hits a solo homerun to left field (8-3, Saints).
The Titans made a big push in the 9th inning and scored three runs (8-6, Saints).
The leading batter for the Saints was Anthony Fimiano who went four for five at the plate. Javier Soto and Wyatt Campbell also had standout performances at the plate both going two for three on the day. Carlos Cordero was the leading batter for the Titans as he went three for five on the day.

"Nick Staszak gave us a big boost with his 8-inning outing. He really pounded the zone with all his pitches and competed his tail off. We had great at-bats up and down the lineup by our hitters, highlighted by Fimiano's four hits. We just need to get that kind of consistent performance on a regular basis. I really believe we are continuing to get better."

The Saints play the Titans on Saturday in a double header at home to finish up the three-game series. The first pitch is scheduled for 12PM.
