Barrios goes to Rollins
All-Citrus Conference Second Team Infielder A.J. Barrios has signed with NCAA Division II Rollins College
Gainesville, FL
Sophomore infielder AJ Barrios has chosen to continue his baseball career with Rollins College, also known as the "Tars".
This past year was Barrios' sole season as a Saint, previously playing for Monsignor Edward Pace High School in Pembroke Pines, Florida, before spending his freshman season with the Montreat College Cavaliers, a private college based out of Montreat, North Carolina.
Throughout the season, Barrios proved to be an exceptional hitter and posted a team-best batting average of .367 over 190 plate appearances, good enough to earn 16th best in the Citrus Conference. Barrios' contributions did not only come from his batting average, as he logged the second most RBIs and third most runs on the team, earning 32 RBIs and 37 runs in 47 games.
Rollins College baseball has found success throughout the years, ultimately finishing runner up in the 2023 NCAA Division II College World Series as well as third the season prior. They are led by Head Coach Jon Sjogren, who has coached at Rollins since 2005 and has posted a 499-428-3 record as a Tar. He has brought Rollins to three NCAA Tournament appearances (2010, 2022, 2023) while also earning ABCA South Region Coach of the Year twice (2022, 2023).
