
Two Former Saints Sign Pro Contracts
Tyler Shelnut and Armando Albert sign to play professionally after a stint at UF.

Two former Saint baseball players have signed professional contracts to compete in the Frontier League. Tyler Shelnut, a 2022 Santa Fe College graduate, signed with the Gateway Grizzlies. Armando Albert signed with the Windy City Thunderbolts.
Shelnut spent two seasons at Santa Fe College, before taking his talents to the University of Florida. Albert spent one season at Santa Fe before transferring to Florida Atlantic University for a season and then completed his collegiate career with two seasons at UF.
Shelnut is coming off a 2024 season in which he hit .261, leaving the ballpark 16 times. Shelnut had 35 extra-base hits and started in 65 games in his final campaign at Florida. In his first season at UF, Shelnut hit .277 and started in 50 games. Albert saw action in 2024, starting in eight games, and receiving 36 at-bats.
Albert and Shelnut played at the highest stage in college baseball in back-to-back seasons at UF, making a trip to the College World Series final in 2023, before going back to Omaha in 2024.
