
Saints Fall in Palatka
Santa Fe made the short trip to St. Johns River State College on Tuesday evening for a nonconference game.

The Saints fell behind early in the ball game but fought back to make it close before St. Johns River State College took a 5-3 win on their home turf. The Vikings struck first in the bottom of the first with a solo run. St. Johns then added more in the bottom of the fourth with a four spot. The Saints battled back with some offense in the sixth inning. A walk and a hit by pitch were capped off with a single from Trey Freeman to score the first two runs of the game for SF. Santa Fe kept battling in the ninth inning as Zack Dejesus led the inning off with a double. Ryan Chase drove Dejesus in on a single, and the Saints put runners on the corners before a strike out ended the ball game.
SF was led by Ryan Chase as he went 3-4 with one RBI and a walk. Trey Freeman was 1-3 with two RBIs and a walk. Dejesus was the only other Saint with a multi-hit afternoon, going 2-4 and scoring a run. Nick Staszak got the ball in to start the midweek game. Staszak went 2.0 innings, allowing one run hit and one unearned run. Staszak struck out three and walked two. Mitchell Marlowe took over in relief, going 1.1 innings and allowing four earned runs. Dylan Lovelace, Brady Wright, Donovan Rabiei, and Stephen Joyce all made appearances on the bump, allowing a combined zero runs and three hits in 4.2 innings.
Santa Fe is back in action on Thursday afternoon, at 3:00 PM against Eastern Florida State College.
