
Saints Fall in Series Opener
Eastern Florida made a trip to Santa Fe on Thursday afternoon to open up the conference series.

The Saints and Titans battled through nine innings, but Eastern Floirda used a big ninth inning to take a 9-6 win in Gainesville. The Saints fell behind in the first inning after a couple soft ground balls found holes in the infield. Eastern Florida hit a solo homerun in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Saints scratched one across in the bottom of the second to make it 2-1. Eastern Florida then scored two more runs in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 4-1. Another one run in the fifth inning for Eastern Florida made the lead 5-1. Howeve the Saints weren't done. A two spot in the fifth inning made the lead just two for the Titans. A two run homerun in the seventh off the bat of Ryan Chase tied the game t 5-5 after seven inings of play. The score was tied headed to the ninth inning, when Eastern Florida score four runs to take a 9-5 lead. The saints were able to get the tying run to the plate in the bottom o the fram, but the Titans held strong for the win.
Robert Nedry and Rex Smith led the day at the dish for Santa Fe, as Nedry went 3-4, scoring two runs and walking one time. Smith was 3-5 with two RBI and one run scored. Ryan Chase and Griffin Sorrow both had two hits on the day. Chase went 2-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBI. Chase Chappell got the start going 5.0 innings allowing seven hits and five runs (two earned runs). Chappell walked four and struck four out. Dylan Lovelace went 2.0 innings giving up no runs and striking out three Titans. Macklin Miller received the loss in the game. Miller went 1.2 innings allowing two hits and four runs.
The Saints travle to Melbourne, Florida to wrap up the series with a double header starting at 1:00 PM.
