
Saints Win Two at Eastern Florida
Santa Fe traveled to Eastern Florida for games two and three of the conference series on Saturday afternoon.

The Saints lost game one of the series on Thursday afternoon but bounced back in game two with a 4-2 win over the Titans. In the seven inning game, the Saints scored three runs in the top of the second to break the 0-0 tie. In the third inning, Eastern Florida was able to scratch a run across, making it 3-1. The Titans were able to scratch one across in the fifth inning to make it a 3-2 game. Santa Fe was able to add insurance in the away half of the sixth inning.
Griffin Sorrow was the man of the day with a three run homerun in the second inning. Rex Smith drove in the insurance run in the sixth inning to help the Saints secure the game two win. Smith was the only Saint with a multi-hit game. Lucas Johns received the start and went the complete game. Johns allowed eight hits and two runs (zero earned runs) while striking out eight.
In game three of the series, the switch was flipped, with the offenses showing out. The Saints were able to hold on late, winning 10-8 and winning the series 2-1. The Saints started the scoring with a solo run in the top of the first. They then added three runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead. The Titans were able to battle back and score five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Again, SF had an answer with a run and a momentum stopper in the top of the fifth to make it 7-5. Eastern Florida was able to score one more in the sixth inning before SF scored one in the seventh and two in the eighth to take a 10-6 lead. Eastern Florida scored one in the eighth and one in the ninth, but could not come back as the Saints won the series.
The top three hitters in the Saints lineup delivered as Zack Dejesus, Robert Nedry, and Ryan Chase all had multi-hit and multi-RBI games. Nedry completed the game 4-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Nedry and Chase both had homeruns in the series finale. Dejesus and Chase were 3-5 with two RBIs. Dejesus scored two runs, while Chase scored one. Smith drove in the final run of the game. Matthew Pagan got the ball to start the ball game. Pagan went 7.0 innings, allowing seven runs, just two earned. Pagan struck out four, allowing ten hits in the game. Stephen Joyce received the six out save, striking out two batters and allowing one unearned run.
Santa Fe is back in action on Tuesday afternoon when FSCJ comes to Gainesville for a nonconference midweek game. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM ET.
