In game one of the doubleheader, Head Coach, Johnny Wiggs picked up his 600th career win at Santa Fe College. The Saints offense showed up with a 12-3 win to propel Wiggs into the history books. The Saints scored two runs in the away half of the first, before scoring two more in the third to take a 4-0 lead. A run for Seminole State in the third cut the deficit. Two was the lucky number for SF as they scored two more runs in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead. The Saints pushed the lead to 11-1 headed to the home half of the sixth inning. Seminole State scored a run in the sixth and seventh, but the Saints offense was too much early.
Four Saints had multi-hit games in the first of two games. Zack Dejesus, Robert Nedry, Ryan Chase, and Carlos Garcia all had at least two hits. Nedry led the way going 3-5 with three runs batted in and there runs scored. Chase was 4-5 with two RBI and two runs. Garcia went 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Lucas Johns started and finished the game going 7.0 innings. Johns allowed six hits and three runs. Johns struck out six and walked one in the game.
In game two of the doubleheader, the Saints were able to push Wiggs to his 800th career win. The Saints dominated at the plate winning 15-4. The Saints jumped on Seminole State early with a five-run second inning. SF scored two in the third and one in both the fourth and fifth innings. SF had a 9-0 lead before Seminole State scored two in the sixth. Santa Fe added one in the eighth and five in the ninth to run away with the game and the series.
Dejesus, Nedry, Chase, Erik Blair, Maddox Lee, and Trey Freeman all had multi-hit performances in game two. Lee led with five runs batted in going 3-5. Chase went 3-6 with three RBI. Matthew Pagan went 6.0 innings allowing just two runs and striking out four. Stephen Joyce pitched in 2.0 innings before Dononcn Rabiei pitched in the ninth innings. Joyce allowed two runs. Between the three pitchers, SF allowed eight hits, four runs, and stuck out five.
The Saints have now won their third conference series of the season. The Saints sit at 10-11 in the Citrus Conference and 19-19 on the season.
Santa Fe is back in action on Thursday afternoon at FSW. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
